Position Location Description
Ditch Rider Wilder

Boise Project is currently accepting applications for a ditchrider position.

Operates irrigation gates, checks, turnouts, and spills to properly regulate water flow in canals and drains. Clean and Maintain culvert crossings, pump inlet grates, checks and spills. This involves removing debris with a long-handled weed fork. Patrol ride daily. Receives and compiles water orders. Construct, install and repair weirs, concrete boxes and other structures. Assists in weed removal and/or weed control applications.

Must have a clean driving record. Requires basic math and computer skills. Experience working with irrigation water is a plus. Must be physically fit and able to lift 50lbs, walk on uneven terrain and up/down steep canal banks.

Wages start at $19.00 hour based on experience, plus seasonal pay during water delivery season. 7 days a week (40 hours) during water season from April to October; Monday-Friday during off water season from November through March. Benefits within 90 days include full medical, dental, vision and PERSI retirement.

Must be able to travel quickly within the Wilder area if there is an emergency. Duties include delivering irrigation water per customers’ requests, cleaning headgates and working with a crew to clean and maintain irrigation facilities. Company vehicle is provided during water season. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
