Canal Night Patrolman - Laborer Boise Area

Boise Project Board of Control has been in existence since 1926 and is the largest irrigation entity in the Treasure Valley. We provide year- round employment in a family-like atmosphere.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. During the water season, hours are 8:00pm to 2:00am, Monday through Saturday, 8:00pm to Midnight on Sunday. During the non-water season, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm, 40 hours per week. This position occasionally required long hours. The Canal Night Patrolman/Laborer performs tasks involving patrolling along canal banks during the water season (April-October). This position then transitions to a Laborer in the off season (November-March).

During the water season this position will patrol and inspect along the canal banks nightly reporting any abnormalities; check for and document rodent issues, and damage to irrigation facilities; monitor canal easements for trespass, unauthorized uses and encroachments.

During the off season this position will construct, install and repair weirs, concrete boxes and other structures; move material/equipment for vehicle transport; keeps records related to work accomplished or products used; assist in weed removal and/or weed control applications; prepare, pour, smooth and finish concrete for irrigation boxes, tiles, and canal linings; prepare and laying of irrigation pipe, dig trenches; tree, bush and weed trimming, burning and/or removal; welding rebar and minor repairs; drive, maneuver, or control light to heavy machinery to construct and/or repair canals, canal lining, and/or mowing ditch banks; drive dump trucks, hauling gravel and dirt to various locations; assists in spring clean up by burning and removal of weeds and trash; maintains a clean job site; picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards; ensures that proper safety and incident procedures are followed.

Must have a clean driving record. Must be physically fit and able to lift 50lbs, walk on uneven terrain and up/down steep canal banks.

Company vehicle is provided during water season. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test. Wages start at $19.00 hour based on experience, plus seasonal pay during water delivery season.
